How Your Property Managers Tech Can Provide You with Better Returns

Technology has changed our lives and world, the way we do business, and of course, property management. Your rental properties are a business and it’s important for any business to keep up with the times. It is the 21st century after all; the time of social media, iOS devices, apps, etc. So, be sure your property manager is utilizing the newest tools available to help you get excellent tenants faster.

For example, we, Real Property Management Humboldt, have many clients that do not live in the Humboldt area.  As an example, one client of ours moved out of the the Humboldt area to take a job in Texas and was concerned how he would keep a tab on his property and our work.

Although they were concerned about how the arrangement would work, we told them it would be no problem. We explained that through our technology, landlords could watch videos of their property online, log into an online portal to view the financials of their property and receive their statements every month along with their monthly payment.

In short, as long as the property management company is using tools that provide the owner online access, the owner can log in and view updates on his investment 24/7 from anywhere with internet access.

 

Here are a few things you want to look out for and discuss with your property manager about their technology:

  • Online Applications – You want to be sure your property manager is utilizing an online application system. That way tenants can easily go online, click apply, fill out their information and just like that you have their information at your convenience.  This will help you save time by allowing you to view as many prospective tenants as possible.
  • Videos – Make sure your property manager uses videos on their website that enable potential tenants to view your home, get an idea of the floor plan and decide if they want to move forward or go with another property.
  • Multiple Options for Paying Rent – Whether it’s with a check, online banking, or credit cards;  be sure the property management company gives as many options as possible. This not only allows for rent to be collected faster but helps you get the return on your investment in a shorter period of time.

If your property management company isn’t using any one of these technologies, then you’re missing a lot of opportunities. Renters today are expecting their landlords to be technology friendly and a property manager who is tech-savvy will know how to get you the most of your property.
